ASHBY-PUERORUM, a parish in the hundred of HILL, parts of LINDSEY, county of LINCOLN, 4 miles (B. N. E.) from Horncastle, containing, with the hamlet of Stainsby, and the extra-parochial liberty of Holbeek, 117 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £6. 3. 2., endowed with £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Lincoln. The church is dedicated to St. Andrew.
