ASHINGTON, a parish in the hundred of STONE, county of SOMERSET, 2 miles (E. S. B.) from Ilchester, containing 81 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Wells, and diocese of Bath and Wells, rated in the king's books at £6. 3. 4., endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of Mrs. Williams. The church is dedicated to St. Vincent. There is a provision for the education of five poor boys of this parish at the school of Marston Magna.
