AVERHAM, a parish in the northern division of
the wapentake of THURGARTON, county of NOTTINGHAM,
3;$ miles (W. by N.) from Newark, containing 191
inhabitants. The living is a rectory, with that of Kelham
annexed, in the archdeaconry of Nottingham, and
diocese of York, rated in the king's books at £20. The
church is dedicated to St. Michael. The navigable river
Trent runs through the parish.
