BARCOMB, a parish in the hundred of BARCOMB, rape of LEWES, county of SUSSEX, 3 miles (N. by E.) from Lewes, containing 753 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Lewes, and diocese of Chichester, rated in the king's books at £ 18.10.10., and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. A school established by the late Thomas Rickman, Esq., who bequeathed to it an an-- nuity of £20 for ten years, has since been supported by the Earl of Liverpool and Mrs. Rickman.
