BARRINGTON, a parish in the southern division of the hundred of PETHERTON, county of SOMERSET, 3 miles (N. E.) from Ilminster, containing 453 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of Taunton, and diocese of Bath and Wells, endowed with £ 800 private benefaction, and in the patronage of the Rev. Dr. W. Palmer. Hemp and flax are extensively cultivated here.
