BEAKSBOURNE, a parish within the cinque-port
liberty of HASTINGS, of which it is a member, though
locally in the hundred of Bridge-and-Petham, lathe of
ST-AUGUSTINE, county of KENT, 3 miles (E. S. E.) from
Canterbury, containing 311 inhabitants. The living is
a vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Canterbury,
rated in the king's books at £ 6, and in the patronage
of the Archbishop of Canterbury. The church
is dedicated to St. Peter.
