BECKLEY, a parish in the hundred of GOLDSPUR, rape of HASTINGS, county of SUSSEX, 6 miles (W.N."VV.) from Rye, containing 1371 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Lewes, and diocese of Chichester, rated in the king's books at £11. 6. 8., and in the patronage of the Master and Fellows of University College,-Oxford. The church is dedicated to All Saints. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. The river Rother bounds this parish on the north, separating the counties of Kent and Sussex.
