BEDWIN (LITTLE), a parish in the hundred of KINWARDSTONE, county of WILTS, 4 miles (W. S. W.) from Hungerford, containing 504 inhabitants. The liv* ing is a vicarage, within the jurisdiction of the peculiar court of the Lord Warden of Savernake Forest, rated in the king's books at £9. 6. 8., and in the patronage of the Marquis of Ailesbury. The church is dedicated to St. Michael. The Kennet and Avon canal passes through the parish, which is also intersected by the ancient Wansdyke.
