BEECHING, or BEAUCHAMP-STOKE, a parish in the hundred of SWANBOROUGH, county of WILTS, 5 miles (E. by S.) from Devizes, containing 156 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Wilts, and diocese of Salisbury, rated in the king's books at £7- 2. 11., and in the patronage of George Wylde Heneage, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Stephen. On opening a tumulus in this parish lately, a considerable quantity of stags' horns and human bones was discovered.
