BELTON, a parish in the s.oke of OAKHAM, county of RUTLAND, 4 miles (W.N.W.) from Uppingham, containing, with Gunthorpe Lodge, 401 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, annexed to the rectory of Wardley, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough. The church is dedicated to St. Peter. A school for the instruction of twelve poor children is endowed with about £10 per annum.
