BEXHILL, a parish in the hundred of BEXHILL, rape of HASTINGS, county of SUSSEX, 5 miles' (W. by S.) from Hastings, containing 1907 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Lewes, and diocese of Chichester, rated in the king's books at £24.10.2., and in the patronage of the Bishop of Chichester. The church is dedicated to St. Peter. The hundred of Bexhill is a franchise in the enjoyment of privileges similar to those possessed by the franchise of Battle. There are several chalybeate springs in the parish.
