BIERTON, a parish in the hundred of AYLESBURY, county of BUCKINGHAM, 1 mile (N. B. by E.) from Aylesbury, containing, with the hamlet of Broughton, 620 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, with the perpetual curacies of Quarrendon and Stoke-Mandeville annexed, in the peculiar jurisdiction and patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £20.10. The church is dedicated to St. James. A school is endowed with £10 per annum; and Mr. Hill, in 1723, gave property, directing the proceeds to be applied in clothing poor men, and in educating and apprenticing children.
