BIGLANDS, a township, joint with Gamelsby, in
the parish of AIKTON, ward and county of CUMBERLAND,
4 miles (N.) from Wigton, containing, with Gamelsby,
191 inhabitants. A sulphureous spring was
discovered here about 1775, the water of which is much
used for cutaneous complaints.
