BILLINGTON, a chapelry in the parish, and lower division of the hundred, of BLACKBURN, county palatine of LANCASTER, 5 miles (N. N. E.) from Blackburn, containing 922 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Chester, endowed with £200 private benefaction, £600 royal bounty, and £600 parliamentary grant, and in the patronage of the Vicar of Blackburn. Here is a free school, with an endowment of about £ 14 per annum.
