BIXLEY, a parish in the hundred of HENSTEAD, county of NORFOLK, 3 miles (S. E. by S.) from Nor-, wich, containing 107 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, with that of Earl's Framlingham united, in the archdeaconry of Norfolk, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £5, and in the patronage of the Duke of Norfolk. The church, dedicated to St. Wandegisilus, to whose image here pilgrimages were formerly made, is an ancient edifice, built by William de Dun wich, in 1272.
