BLETCHLEY, a parish in the hundred of NEWPORT, county of BUCKINGHAM, If mile (W. by S.) from Fenny-Stratford, containing, with the chapelry of Fenny- Stratford (part of which is in the parish of Simpson), and the township of Water-Eaton, 1160 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Buckingham, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £29. 13. !§., and in the patronage of J. Fleming, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. On the enclosure of the common, an allotment of twenty-five acres was assigned for the benefit of the poor, in lieu of cutting furze.
