BOOTLE, a chapelry in the parish of WALTON on the HILL, hundred of WEST-DERBY, county palatine of LANCASTER, 3 miles (N.) from Liverpool, containing, with the township of Linacre, 808 inhabitants. The village comprises several good houses, and is very much resorted to during summer, for the benefit, of sea-bathing.
