BOTHEL, a township in the parish of TORPENHOW,
ALLERDALE ward below Darwent, county of CUMBERLAND,
4 miles (W.) from Ireby, containing, with the
township of Threapland, 384 inhabitants. This is a
long straggling village: the vicinity abounds with limestone,
and there are kilns for burning it.
