BOUGHTON, a parish in the hundred of SPELHOE, county of NORTHAMPTON, 3 miles (N.) from Northampton, containing 351 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at £20. 9. 7-, and in the patronage of R. W. H. H. Vyse, Esq. The church, dedicated to St. John the Baptist, is desecrated; but here is a chapel in which divine service is performed. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. A fair, which continues for three days, is held annually on a piece of waste ground half a mile to the south of the village.
