BOURN-MOOR, a township in the parish of
HOUGHTON-le-SPRING, northern division of EASINGTON
ward, county palatine of DURHAM, containing 1139
inhabitants. At New Lambton, in this township, is a
brine well ninety-seven fathoms deep, where salt-works
were established in 1815. There is also a place of worship
for Wesleyan Methodists, with a Sunday school
attached, in which about one hundred and sixty children
are instructed.
