BRAMSHOTT, a parish in the hundred of ALTON, Alton (North) division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON, 4 miles (W. by N.) from Haslemere, containing, with the hamlet of Liphook, 1006 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Winchester, rated in the king's books at £18. 9. 2., and in the patronage of the Provost and Fellows of Queen's College, Oxford. The church, .dedicated to St. Mary, is a small cruciform edifice, principally in the early English style, with'a low tower surmounted by a spire. At Liphook fairs for the sale of live stock are held, on the first Wednesday in March and June llth.
