BRATTON (ST-MAUR), a parish in the hundred
of NORTON-FERRIS, county of SOMERSET, 2 miles (W.
N. W.) from Wincanton, containing 80 inhabitants. The
living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry
of Wells, and diocese of Bath and Wells, rated in the
king's books at £5. 4. 7., and in the patronage of T.
and G. Messiter, Esqrs. The church is dedicated to
the Holy Trinity.
