BRIGHTWELL-BALDWIN, a parish in the hundred of EWELME, county of OXFORD, 5 miles (S. W. by S.) from Tetsworth, containing, with the-tything of Cadwell, 286 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in; the archdeaconry and diocese of Oxford, rated in the king's books at £18. 16., and in the patronage of W. White, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Bartholomew. At a place called Bushy-Leas, between this and- Chalgrave, a curious glass vessel, surrounded by twelve Roman sepulchral urns, was anciently dug up.
