BROUGHTON-GIFFORD, a parish in the hundred of BRADFORD, county of WILTS, 2 miles (W.) from Melksham, containing 776 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Salisbury rated in the king's books at £19. 3. ll., and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is dedicated to St. -Mary. There is a place of worship for Particular Baptists. A fund for the instruction of children and for the relief of the poor was given by Francis Paradice and his wife, in 1782.
