BROUGHTON-HACKETT, a parish in the upper division of the hundred of PERSHORE, county of WORCESTER, 5 miles (E.) from Worcester, containing 123 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Worcester, rated in the king's books at £8. 1. 0., and in the patronage of the crown. The church is dedicated to St. Leonard. There are some stone pits in this parish, producing specimens in which marine shells are imb.edded; these are sus- ceptible of a polish that renders them in appearance not inferior to the Derbyshire marble. A valuable bluejsh limestone, which supplies the city of Worcester and places adjacent with lime for building and manure, abounds here.
