BUCKENHAM (OLD), a parish in the hundred of SHROPHAM, county of NORFOLK, 3 miles (S.S.E.) from Attleburgh, containing 1134 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of Norfolk; and diocese of Norwich, endowed with £200 private bene- faction, £200 royal bounty, and £800 parliamentary grants and in the. patronage of the parishioners. The church is dedicated to All Saints. There is a place of worship for Sandemanians. This was anciently a place of considerable importance, and is supposed to derive its name, either from Boccen, a beech tree, and Ham.
