BUCKHORN-WESTON, a parish in the hundred of REDLANE, Sturminster division of the county of DORSET, 8 miles (W. by N.) from Shaftesbury, containing 3<27 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Dorset, and diocese of Bristol, rated in the king's books at £10. 1. 3., and in the patronage of Lady Stapleton. In the chancel of the church is an ancient statue, supposed to be that of the father-in-law of Gascoigne,Lord Chief Justice in the reigns of Henry IV. and V.; the gallery is said to have been painted by Sir James Thornhill, who resided in a neighbouring parish.
