BULVERHITHE (ST-MARY), a hamlet, and member of the town and port of HASTINGS, locally in the parish and hundred of Bexhill, rape of HASTINGS, county of SUSSEX, l mile (E.) from Bexhill, containing 34 inhabitants. William the Conqueror is supposed to have landed here, at which time it was a haven called Bollefride: a considerable part of the coast has been encroached upon by the sea.
