BURNETT, a parish in the hundred of KEYNSHAM, county of SOMERSET, 2 miles (S. by E.) from Keynsham, containing 75 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Bath, and diocese of Bath and Wells, rated in the king's books at £5.10.7., and in the patronage of the Mayor and Corporation of Bristol. The. church is dedicated to St. Michael. The village, which is small and. compact, is situated on the river Chew, and was formerly part of the manor of Keynsham, which, with the advowson, was purchased by John Whiston, Esq., alderman of Bristol, who assigned it in trust to feoffees, for the endowment of the " Red- Maids' school" founded by him at Bristol.
