BYTHAM (CASTLE), a parish in the wapentake of BELTISLOE, parts of KESTEVEN, county of LINCOLN, 5 miles (S. by W.) from Corby, comprising the chapelry of Holywell with Awnby, and the hamlet of Coun<- thorpe, and containing 736 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, with which the rectory of Little Bytham is'consolidated, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £7- 13., 6., and in the patronage of the Bishop of Lincoln and the Dean and Chapter, alternately. The church is dedicated to St. James. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan. Methodists.
