CALDECOTE, a parish in the Atherstone division of the hundred of HEMLINGFORD, county of WARWICK, 3 miles (S.E. by E.) from Atherstone, containing 86 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Coventry, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, rated in the king's books at £6. 15., endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £400 royal bounty, and in the patronage of S. Hemming, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Theobald and St. Chad'. In 1647, George Abbott bequeathed land, directing the annual produce to be expended in teaching poor, children, and in providing them and poor families with bibles. The Coventry canal passes through this parish.
