CASSINGTON, a parish in the hundred of WOOTTON, county of OXFORD, 6 miles (N.W.) from Oxford, containing, with the hamlet of Worton, 393 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Oxford, rated in the king's books at £ 12, and in the patronage of the Dean and Canons of Christ Church, Oxford. The church is dedicated to St. Peter, Six boys are annually clothed, educated, and apprenticed, from the produce of an estate bequeathed by Henry Alnutt.
