CATCLIFFE, a township in that part of the parish
of ROTHERHAM which is in the southern division of
the wapentake of STRAFFORTH-and-TICKHILL, West
riding of the county of YORK, 3 miles (S.) from Rotherham,
containing 202 inhabitants. Here is a manufactory
for glass. In 1702, George Beardsall devised
£10 per annum for a master, for which he teaches ten
poor children.
