CATTERHAM, a parish in the second division of the hundred of TANDRIDGE, county of SURREY, 3 miles (N. by W.) from Godstone, containing 435 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Surrey, and diocese of Winchester, rated in the king's books,at £8. 0.1., and in the patronage of the Rev. James Legrew. The church is dedicated to St. Lawrence. The Croydon railway passes through this parish. A school-house has been built by Thomas Clarke, for the use of which a master teaches six poor children.
