CAWKWELL, a parish in the northern division of
the wapentake of GARTREE, parts of LINBSEY, county
of LINCOLN, 7 miles (N. by B.) from Horncastle, containing
34 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage,
in the archdeaconry and diocese of Lincoln,
rated in the king's books at £4. 8. 6., endowed with
£600 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Crown.
The church is dedicated to St. Peter.
