CHARLINCH, a parish in the hundred of CANNINGTON,
county of SOMERSET, 4 miles (w. by N.)
from Bridg-water, containing 251 inhabitants. The
living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Taunton, and
diocese of Bath and Wells, rated in the king's books at
£9. 15. 5., and in the patronage of the Rev. Dr. Starky.
The church is dedicated to St. Mary. Gothelney House,
an old building of the fifteenth or sixteenth century, is
now occupied as a farm-house.
