CHELMONDISTON, a parish in the hundred of
SAMFORD, county of SUFFOLK, 6$ miles (S. S. E.) from
Ipswich, containing 366 inhabitants. The living is a discharged
rectory, in the archdeaconry of Suffolk, and
diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £8.10.,
and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is dedicated
to St. Andrew. The navigable river Orwell
forms the northern boundary of this parish.
