The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Bath, and diocese of Bath and Wells, rated in the king's books at ^5, 7, 6., and in the patronage of the Bishop of Bath and Wells, The church is dedicated to St. Leonard; tne tower.was rebuilt in 1772. There is an endowed chapel belonging to the Independents. The parish contains extensive mines of coal.
