CHESEL, a hamlet in the parish of WEST-WINTERSLOW,
hundred of ALDERBURY, county of WILTS, 8
miles (E. by N.) from Salisbury. The population is returned
with the parish. About a mile from this place
is a curious earthwork, of an oval form, containing five
acres, and supposed to have been a Roman amphitheatre $
on the north side is a large rampart.
