CHESHAM-BOIS, a parish in the hundred of BURNHAM, county of BUCKINGHAM, Ij mile (S. by B.) from Chesham, containing 160 inhabitants. The living is a rectory and a donative, rated in the king's books at £5. 6. 8., and in the patronage of the Duke of Bedford. The church, dedicated to St. Leonard/contains a curious pulpit and painted window of some antiquity; it was formerly a chapel of ease to the vicarage of Chesham. The northern part of this parish is crossed by a branch of the river Coin, on which there are a paper-mill and a corn-mill.
