CHINNOCK (WEST), a parish in the hundred
of HOUNDSBOROUGH-BERWICK-and-COKER, county of
SOMERSET, 3 miles (N.E. by N.) from Crewkerne, containing
477 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy,
annexed to the rectory of Chisleborough, in the
archdeaconry of Wells, and diocese of Bath and Wells.
The church has lately received an addition of one hundred
and fifty-two sittings, of which eighty-four are
free, the Incorporated Society for the enlargement of
churches and chapels having granted £50 towards
defraying the expense. There is a place of worship
for Wesleyan Methodists.
