CHISLETT, a parish in the hundred of BLEANGATE, lathe of ST-AUGUSTINE, county of KENT, 7 miles (N. E.) from Canterbury, containing 1135 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Canterbury, rated in the king's books at £29. 19. 9., and in the patronage' of the Archbishop of Canterbury. The church, dedicated to St. Mary, is in the early style of English architecture. In 1811, the archbishop demised certain lands, which let for £40 per annum, for the education of children of the parish: the income is applied to teaching twenty-seven boys and girls, and in support of a Sunday school for sixty children.
