CHIVINGTON (WEST), a township in that part
of the parish of WARKWORTH which is in the eastern
division of MORPETH ward, county of NORTHUMBERLAND,
8 miles (N. by E.) from Morpeth, containing
108 inhabitants. Here was formerly a chapel,
which has long been in ruins. From the foundations or
houses, still to be seen, extending one mile and a half
in a direct line from this place to East Chivington, it
seems to have been formerly a place of much greater
importance.
