CIPPENHAM, a liberty in the parish of BURNHAM, and hundred
of BURNHAM, county of BUCKINGHAM, 2 miles
(N. W. by N.) from Eton. The population is returned
with the parish. This is said to have been a place of
residence for the Saxon kings; but it is more certain
that here was a palace for the monarchs of the Norman
line.
