CLAYTON, a township in the parish of BRADFORD,
wapentake of MORLEY, West riding of the county of
YORK, 3 miles (W. by S.) from Bradford, containing
3609 inhabitants, who are chiefly employed in the manufacture
of cotton and worsted goods. There are
places of worship for Wesleyan Methodists here and
at Clayton Heights.
