CLIFTON-REYNES, a parish in the hundred of NEWPORT, county of BUCKINGHAM, 2§ miles (E.) from Olney, containing 230 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Buckingham, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £13. 6. 10., and in the patronage of Trustees for William Harry Alexander Small, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The principal manor here was given by William the Conqueror to Robert de Todeni, one of the companions of his expedition, and it afterwards passed into the family of Reynes, from which the parish takes its adjunct.
