COLLINGBOURN-KINGSTONE, a parish in the
hundred of KINWARDSTONE, county of WILTS, 4 miles
(N. N. W.) from Ludgershall, containing 817 inhabitants,
of which number, 251 are in Collingbourn,
Southon, 233 in Collingbourn-Kingston, and 333 in
Collingbourn-Vallance. The living is a vicarage, in the
archdeaconry of Wilts, and diocese of Salisbury, rated
in the king's books at £ 15. 7- 3., and in the patronage
of the Dean and Chapter of Winchester. The church
is dedicated to St. Mary. There is a place of worship
for Wesleyan Methodists. John Norris, eminent as a.
divine and philosopher, was born at the vicarage-house,
in 1567.
