COMBE-HAY, a parish in the hundred of WELLOW, county of SOMERSET, 3 miles (S. by W.) from Bath, containing 237 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Wells, and diocese of Bath and Wells, rated in the king's books at £9. 12. 3., and in the patronage of H. Hanbury Tracey, Esq. The Roman Fosse-way passes near this place: the ditch on each side, which gives name to it, is here very perfect. The Radford canal has its course through the parish, and joins the Kennet and Avon canal.
