COMPTON-ABDALE, a parish in the hundred of BRADLEY, county of GLOUCESTER, 4 miles (W. N. W.) from North Leach, containing 184 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Gloucester, endowed with £ 200 private benefaction, and 600 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Bristol. The church, dedicated to St. Oswald, is a small ancient building. Here is a school with a trifling endowment. The river Coin runs through this parish, which is well wooded.
