COMPTON-WYNIATES, a parish in the Brails division of the hundred of KINGTON, county of WARWICK, 5 miles (E. by N.) from Shipston upon Stour, containing 28 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, with the vicarage of Tysoe united, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Worcester, rated in the king's books at £10, and in the patronage of the Marquis of Northampton. The manor-house, erected in the reign of Henry VIII., was garrisoned by some troops belonging to the parliament, in 1646.
